Lourie Lane presents a collection of carefully restored Pioneer Homes, where original heritage farmhouses are reimagined for modern living.
“Rooted in the rich architectural history of Natal, the design celebrates familiar rural elements, generous wrapping verandahs, stone detailing, timber elements, light walls, and a soft cottage-like roofline. These features create a warm and welcoming presence, giving the home a sense of heritage, permanence, and belonging.
The wrapping verandahs form an important part of the design intent, offering shaded outdoor living spaces, that connect the home to the surrounding landscape. They soften the architecture, encourage slow living, and create a natural transition between interior comfort and playful garden living.
Internally, the home is envisioned with rich interior finishes that enhance its timeless cottage character while adding a refined sense of comfort. Natural textures, warm timber, layered stone, soft neutral tones, and carefully detailed joinery create interiors that feel elegant, tactile and timeless. Positioned within the idea of a “cottage lane,” the home feels intimate and community focused. Its cottage character is balanced with clean modern detailing, allowing it to feel both nostalgic and fresh, a refined interpretation of farm estate living with a strong connection to place.”
